Nick Cannon fired from Viacom but embraced by FOX

Nick Cannon the host of the masked singer and multimedia entrepreneur became under fire last week for for a series of anti-Semitic comments he made on his pod cast Cannon's Class. After his comments went viral, ViacomCBS ousted Cannon from his veteran comedy franchise “Wild ‘N Out.” But instead of retreating, the 39-year-old pushed back. Cannon posted on Twitter and Facebook that “Viacom’s goal to keep me from providing for my family and lineage will be foiled;” that the company was trying to “kick me while I’m down or force me to kiss the master’s feet in public;” that it was trying to “hang me out to dry and make an example of anyone who says something they don’t agree with.”It was a striking double-down from a mainstream figure accused of hate speech. The move spurred a tsunami on social media, inspiring figures like Diddy to hail Cannon as a folk hero calling out corporate hypocrisy — and a wide range of commentators to decry him as a peddler of bigotry rightly called out himself for spreading dangerous lies.
